Think you need to play an instrument to join a concert band? Think again!
Our instrumentalists are great, but sometimes there is just no substitute for the one instrument we were born with – our voice. We have several pieces of music in our library which are written with choral parts included, and whilst we can can play without vocals, the performance wouldn’t be as magical as it could be!
Being honest though – these vocal parts are not always choral masterpieces. There are a lot of oohs and ahs, but that’s not a bad thing: it means fewer words to learn, fewer rehearsals to attend, and so more energy to focus on delivering a stellar performance.
Although it would be too much to ask an established choir to collaborate with us (it would eat into their own rehearsal schedules), we would like to invite experienced and enthusiastic choristers to join us independently from their current commitments – an ‘extra curricular’ of sorts.
Our goal is to feature choral numbers in at least one concert per year, starting with our stage and screen night on 27 April 2024, which will feature John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen, from the film Saving Private Ryan. We’d love to have a choir of 16, with 4 singers covering each part: Sopranos, Alto, Tenor and Bass. If you are interested in joining us, please click the button below to express your interest.
